My Nearest and Dearest eHA Planet Friends and extended Family,
I'd like to share with you my recent discovery of a genius to Love, Admire and Just Adore.

His name is Andrew Lang.

Condensed Biogaphy of important facts for your reference:
Lang was the eldest of the eight children of John Lang, town clerk of Selkirk, and his wife, Jane Plenderleath Sellar, daughter of Patrick Sellar, factor to the first duke of Sutherland. As a journalist, poet, critic and historian, he soon made a reputation as one of the most able and versatile writers of the day.

Lang was one of the founders of "Psychical Research" and his other writings on anthropology include The Book of Dreams and Ghosts (1897), Magic and Religion (1901) and The Secret of the Totem (1905).

Lang is now chiefly known for his publications on folklore, mythology, and religion. The earliest of his publications is Custom and Myth (1884). In Myth, Ritual and Religion (1887) he explained the "irrational" elements of mythology as survivals from more primitive forms. Lang's Making of Religion was heavily influenced by the 18th century idea of the "noble savage": in it, he maintained the existence of high spiritual ideas among so-called "savage" races, drawing parallels with the contemporary interest in occult phenomena in England. His Blue Fairy Book (1889) was a beautifully produced and illustrated edition of fairy tales that has become a classic. This was followed by many other collections of fairy tales, collectively known as Andrew Lang's Fairy Books.


By a Divine Miracle of Nature, my Fairy Godmother from my favorite Andrew Lang's Brown Fairy Book has visited me today on the Moon. She dressed me in my best attire, applied some very carefully selected make up, put the Glass Slippers on my feet and a tiara on my head, and converted my Halloween Pumpkin into a Princess Carriage to take me for a visit of the Earth in search of my lost Enchanted Head - the secret to my Fairy Tale Happiness in Life.

I only have till the stroke of Midnight to make my way on to the eHA Bridge of Sighs to find this Amazing, Loved and Loving Enchanted Head. Shortly thereafter my Princess Carriage will turn back into a Halloween Pumpkin (later to be made into a soup), my high heeled Glass Slippers will fall off, and I will forever return to cook, clean and sweep Cinders off the surface of the Moon.

With that in mind, and also providing for my lack of spatial perception and very little time left to find this breathtakingly amazing Enchanted Head, would any of you, my kindest dearest friends, be able to direct me to the eHA Bridge of Sighs?

I thank you kindly for your help and will be happy to reward you with unlimited qantities of Ice Cream in return.

I will be ready and waiting in the Enchanted Fairy PMland until 00:03 (or 5:03 ATIC Lunar time), awaiting your directions.

I have visited the "Puente de los Suspiros" (Bridge of Sighs) in the Barranco District, of Lima, Peru, and can say it's lovely and utterly romantic, overlooking the Pacific Ocean....as it's in a enchanting Peruvian neighborhood in Lima that sizzles with nightlife and romance. It is unforgettable.


However the words above in the initial post here, make no sense, whatsoever, to me, and I cannot help but wonder if they may have been conjured and then strung together in some oxygen-starved environment....... such as the Earth's moon....

Dear Lady IcecreamMoon

Your tale sounds eerily like the earthly tale of Cinderella. As there have only been a handful of of us earth bound to have visited your lunar home, is it possible for you to translate your thoughts into something, at least remotely, resembling English for us poor souls that are not on the lunartic fringe?

It is possible. But then it would be too Earthly and lose the Mystique of the Moon.

My goodness people, none of you have heard of Andrew Lang? Were you never children? Okay. I can see that it is *possible* that you haven’t. Seeing as his "Fairy" tales post-dated the Grimms, they aren’t as famous… perhaps. This was around the turn of the century- I mean the early 1900s, not the millennium. Several fairy books came out in colours, starting with the early Red and then Blue Fairy (or I think it might be blue then red… nevermind). In them, Lang collected *tons* of fables. From The Ugly Duckling to Rapunzel to Aladdin to Cinderella, tales from the Punjab to the African jungles, from Asia to London. Seriously. Look him up. I think I’ve *still* got those books somewhere, likely wrapped up carefully in the attic in my parents house, awaiting the grandchildren that have yet to come. There was a separate thread here bespeaking favorite books from childhood- and I completely forgot about these. Thank you, Lady Moon, for reminding me. *grin*

As for seeking the echuckles Bridge of Sighs, I must humbly suggest a punt with a single oar, a rope with a grappling hook, and a strong arm to speed you on your way. Beneath the twisting steaming crowded streets and boards a crooked stream wends its way towards the shore. Head upstream from the lower docks, where creak and sing the ships- relating the news of the day, saying "content, at rest, busily at peace," from there head in to town. When politics do you meet, cleave not to Right or Left lest you lose your way, press on, the journey’s just begun. From there strike for the bells, the church will guide your oar, but rest not upon that holy ground, press on, towards the rising of the sun. In the Learned Quarter hark! The wise ones will point the way, about you they have most certainly heard, press on, this next stage is, indeed, quite fun. Music calls your name with dulcet tones in harmony, the current presses lightly and enjoins you to lark, but press on, press on, you’re nearly done. Back and away from the noise of the day you’ll find a narrow bridge of stone that stands alone between the polished palace and the square- you’re almost there! Make fast your ship, and hook and haul, above you is the Bridge of Sighs. For an Enchanted Head to find, you must be kind, and call him to you sweetly! Success is yours at the end of the day- or is this just another stop along the way? Time will tell.

And if my directions make me seem to jerk, keep in mind- good things in life take work! Arrange them as you please, for nothing of worth is quite so simple as these.

My sweet *jellybeans* that was fun! Only able to access some of that tonight due to this glacial computer and fuzzy connection... But "Oh No Not Cactus Again!" *grin* Good stuff. Need billboards and signposts, most definitely.
