Please consider setting up a forum where threads like "Friday/Saturday Night Roll Call", "Weekend Date Roundup", etc. can go.

This could also be a place to move those 30-page threads that drifted off-topic by the end of the first page?

You could start your own Group if this is where your interests are.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I propose a new forum at the top level, so that the existing chit-chatty threads can be moved out of the main Dating forum. They clearly don't belong there.

I've made similar suggestions in the past -- I think it could be a very popular forum!

The intention, of course, wouldn't be to stop people from engaging on the main forums in a fun way, but I agree that it would be good to have a forum where the purpose is simply to be social.

i see what you mean, though had not previously thought about it. everything at the top level is ostensibly about advice of some kind or another.

there should be a group at that level for just socializing.

the eHa social club!

We already have this: "Everything Else"

I'm thinking of making some changes to the structure of the boards. "Everything Else" can re-named "Chit Chat" or "The Lounge" and brought to the top of the Off Topic List. That might re-spark that forum's popularity.

We're also looking to create a "Game Room" where all the games threads could go; I'm considering consolidating Books/TV/Movies/Music into "Entertainment"....I'll post a topic here detailing my plans for feedback.

But, that's not how the Everything Else forum is currently being used. Those kinds of threads are now generally posted in the Dating Forum.

Along with moving it to the top of the "Off Topic" list, changing the name of the forum might help (I like your idea of renaming it "The Lounge," or notyet's "eHA Social Club," as a way to convey that, too...). Right now, the purpose of the Everything Else forum isn't really articulated at all (i.e., with a little blurb at the top), so doing that in a way that clarifies that it is a place for those sorts of social/chitchat threads might help, too.

There would also have to be a specific effort/decision to move the Weekend Roundup and Roll Call threads to that forum for it to in fact function as the place to go for those sorts of more social discussions...

The other reorganization plans sound great!

As someone who regularly starts the thread, I post it in Dating because it's THE most popular forum. Some people actually have a date on Friday night and post about it, while others come to get away from it all. In any event, it's just a fun place to hang out if you are home and on the boards.
