No. I've seen it directly in front of churches (usually something like John 3:16) and that's about it.

We don't have Free Speech as a right here though, so that may be a contributing factor.

wow, the government restricting the people instead of the people restricting the government.

maybe it's not as bad here yet as i had thought it was.

Australian Freedom of Speech Laws

Overview
The Australian Constitution does not expressly protect freedom of speech or expression. In 1992, however, the High Court of Australia held that a right to freedom of expression, in so far as public and political discussion were concerned, was implied in the Constitution.

This right was thought to be an essential requirement of democratic and representative government and thus implied into the Australian Constitution, which had established such a system of government. Subsequent cases have made determinations on the scope of this implied freedom. It has been found to extend to the publication of material:
- discussing government and political matters generally;
-relating to the performance of individuals of their duties as members of the Parliament; and
-discussing the performance, conduct and fitness for office of members of the Commonwealth and State legislatures.

The right does not extend to more generally to a right to freedom of expression where political issues are not involved.

you have the essentials correct.

my problem with this ad is that is blatantly targets children. here it is the holiday season and we have a nice cheery picture of santa, who many of the children believe in, and he is telling them, "there is no god."

"Ok kids, everything you were told about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy are not real. But everything you were told about the Bible is real - Jonah and the Great Fish, the Virgin Birth, etc..."

I have literally had non-believing or disgruntled parents use this kind of logic to discourage their children from coming to church. If Santa isn't real, then neither is Jesus. Only problem is there is a big difference between Santa not visiting and spending eternity in hell.

Yeah - I imagine it would be! It is why I find it so fascinating that:

* the US has the kinds of advertisements I'm learning about in this thread
* this website is US based and locks down threads and deletes posts - I can't reconcile that to right of Free Speech at all. Am I missing something in my understanding of Free Speech?

I don't know if it is still enforceable (I assume it is), but you could get arrested for swearing in earshot of a police officer. I don't mean swearing at the police officer, just using foul language in his/her presence.
