Why do men claim they re "fit" when by their pictures they are clearly not! I am a personal trainer and have known many bodybuilders so let me tell you 5'11" and 235lbs is not fit unless you are about 4% body fat...(I had one guy describe himself as a slim 235 and 5'11"). Also, why would a guy say he only smokes about once year--then post a picture of himself...smoking!!! I've tried to be as straight-up and honest as I possibly could, but I get tons of matches who clearly have not been...

i've always wondered this about being "physically fit" myself.

most people assume that if they're skinny, then they're fit.

i've always thought that being "fit" meant that one could run 5 miles, do 100 push ups etc regardless of whether one is skinny or fat

true that being fit doesn't just mean you're thin...many thin people are not fit...but I'd really like to see someone 50 lbs overweight run 5 miles or do 50 push-ups...

I'm skin and bones. I don't claim to be "fit" in the sense of being muscular, but I'm stronger than I look and pleased to say I can't pinch more than an inch.

What are the official criteria used by trainers to gauge one's fitness anyway?

Here is a funny/sad one! One of my matches uses a real name--so today I googled him.. He died on March27,2009---his obit said that he is survived by his wife, xxxx and his two children! How is THAT for a deceitful bio!
But that explains why he never responded....: /

to Stevereno: It's not always about the guys...I agree that unfortunatly girls are often liars too....but I don't have any experience with that, so I didn't post about that (duh!!). Also, look around on this sight...most of the articles are about all the mistakes women make ("5 mistakes women make," "What she did wrong," "why he didn't call back," ) and on and on and on...as if the guys get to make all the rules and women just have to learn how to follow them...hmmmmmm

I'm not on eH, but on Match I list my body type as average because I figure slender or fit means visible ab muscles and/or no little belly "pudge". Even though I walk 10 or 15 miles a day out in the heat for work and climb up block walls every day, I eat a lot of crap so I'm not "fit" or "slender". If I lost 15 pounds and gained some abs... yeah, maybe I could say that. But not now.

But the thing is, I would much rather meet a guy for a first date and have him tell me "You should say you are slender!" than list myself as slender and have him thinking I'm not. And I can't guarantee I will always be this weight, so if being thin is that big of a deal, I'd rather know now anyway.

Oh, and both genders fudge on this (and age). Definitely.

His wife probably killed him for cheating......

Sorry, I was trying to be funny, but regardless it is sad he died and left a wife and children even if he was a cheater.

I wish them lying about whether or not they are fit was my biggest problem. LOL
The man that I ended up relaxing a few of the things I would normally demand from a man I met in the real world was a lot shorter than his profile (he claimed 5'10 but I looked at him eye to eye and I'm 5'6 on a good day without heels). I figured I got to know him as a person and that wasn't as important but it says a lot about someone's character if they lie about something like that (that you'll eventually find out about). I said from day one I had a lot of junk in my trunk but I figure I could get rid of the junk but he can't magically grow at least four inches.
