I think not. After over a year on EHarmony I never met a single match, and only got responses at all from a scant handful. Most of the "highly compatible" matches I had nothing at all in common with, judging from their profiles, except a general age range, so I finally gave up. I'm afraid I've entirely lost any faith in on-line dating as a solution. *Sighs*

You have to do more than judge from a profile. Did you at least inquire further? Some people just aren't good at talking about themselves.

Also, remember that pictures are important. I know that shouldn't be, but you have to look your best in your pictures. Have your hair fixed, make-up on. Present your best. First impressions are crucial. I was on eharmony for about 5 months and never made it to open communication. Got off for a year. Updated my pictures and profile, got back on and was matched with the man I am now in love with the first day - no kidding!! I thought it was a sham too. I even discouraged friends from it. I say take a break. Clear your head. Come back with new, improved pictures, read over your profile so that you don't sound toooooo needy or wierd. Read some self help dating books too.

Dear CastleLady,

I'm sorry that you didn't have a successful eHarmony experience but hope that you have revisited your thread and read the responses you have received.

While I know that you were disappointed with your "highly-compatible" matches, I have to agree with lostatsea's point that you really can't judge a match based only on their profile. Though it may not always seem that way, there is a reason you received each one of your matches.

That is why we always recommend you do a little communicating with most if not all of your matches before deciding they absolutely aren't The One. Countless successfully-matched members have found their soulmate on eHarmony because they gave a match they weren't initially bowled over with a chance and communicated with them.

Also, sometimes it is a good idea, as ads1973 suggested, to take a break from our site and then return when you are ready to continue your search. I'm glad she mentioned re-evaluating your profile if you aren't experiencing the rate of communication you would like.

Even members who think they have done a really great job on their profile can often still enhance it and make it even better. Also, photos are important to many of our members; so sometimes it takes a little effort to make sure that your photos are really showing you off in the best light.

One way we help our members create the best profile possible is through the Workshop Profiles and photo articles/discussions available here on eHarmony Advice.

Additionally, members are encouraged to reach out to Customer Care whenever they have concerns about their eHarmony experience. Customer Care can be reached through the Help link available at the bottom of all our Single site pages, and a Customer Care agent will be glad to review your profile and provided feedback and suggestions.

I hope that you will consider returning to our Singles site in the future, but, if not, I hope you will continue to take advantage of eHarmony Advice as you search for that special someone.

All the best,

-Renee
eHarmony Advice Host

p.s. Congratulations, ads1973, to you and your eHarmony Match! That is so amazing that your first day back on eHarmony you found The One. As your relationship progresses, please keep us updated. Also, Success Stories would love to hear from you too! http://tr.im/xXW3
