I didn't mean you in particular, just a generalization. Maybe I'm the only one who may think that way.

Well what an interesting discussion!! I have just had a big AH HA moment. All has become clear. I have had a lot of matches, mostly with no photo, which annoys me intensely. From what I have been reading I can now tell that most of them are non paying members. There have been more matches on the free weekend and 9 out of 10 matches do not respond to icebreakers or attempts to communicate. I have been confused as to why they do not respond or make initial contact. Now I think I have figured it out. I am a new member of 1 month and signed up for 3 months but will not renew my membership once it has expired, for this reason. I feel like I am wasting my time and they are wasting my time too. I am not happy with how this is allowed to happen on this site. It seems to me that paying members are doing all the hard work and the non maying members are along for the free ride which starts to mess with our heads when we can't figure out what is going on. It is just as well that my confidence levels are good and I haven't been taking it personally. A big thumbs down for the free weekends.

Dang it-- I thought I'd figured this out (sort of). But thanks for the advice! I'm going to do like dancer8 and give it 3 months (I just signed up for a 3-month subscription) and try another site if my matches don't perk up.

If getting no response to your attempt to communicate makes you feel worthless then you are worthless. If on the other hand you have a positive attitude about yourself then you place the negativity on the person that did not return your communication. In other words what my statement said, they missed out on a really great match.

If you are a paying member don't send IceBreakers as this is a sign of a non-paying member.

Free Communication Weekends are great. I had a lot of communication with Free Weekenders and have several in communication on personal e-mail.

Just an FYI, all sites have lots of non-paying, non-active, non-communicating matches.

This is good information-- I have not quite figured out what the Icebreakers are, exactly, so I've never used them.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. How come you know this? No-one ever told me this. I thought that it was the correct way to get a communication going. Do I just send the first questions straight up with no introduction or request fast track?

I think the best way to know who is a paying member is if they communicate with you within a week of being matched. True paying members check their status regularly. THey will either close you or answer your questions within a week.
If a week goes by then they are non-paying. i dont buy this theory that people might be too busy.
